Dunaskin Ironworks

The former Dunaskin Ironworks site on which the Doon Valley Railway is based.  The ironworks were established in the 1840's and closed in 1921. The iron furnaces were replaced with brick kilns and continued to operate until the 1970's. The site is now a Scheduled Monument: http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/SM4345
