This could have ended very differently!!!

One of the other crews in our fleet took this picture of us entering today’s destination….

We had lost part of our rigging, not critical but enough to not have the main sail up, other than a tiny bit to act as a storm sail! We had a rip in the reefed genoa, a radio that was iffy at best and an under powered engine that was over powered by the wind speed!! I forgot to mention the dinghy under tow which was doing somersaults behind us!!

This was all in weather that 2 professional yachting weather apps failed to predict (as did the BBC!) instead we got a consistent 25kt breeze gusting 30!! Should have been 15 max! Anyway, life jackets were donned as a precaution, but thankfully not needed!

Kids were brilliant… calm and not outwardly nervous. I was going over all the options if it went really wrong! I held my nerve (there was no alternative!) and we got in fine….

Tomorrow will be calmer!!
