Easy Pickings

This is by no means the worst litter we saw this morning on our way to church; indeed, it is positively tidy compared with the view on the main road and the opposite side of the square.

We are four days into a strike by bin collections and street cleaning, with nine more days before they resume.

Meanwhile, the bins are already overflowing: pigeons (here), crow family (especially jackdaws), foxes and rats will be feasting to their hearts content.

I cannot imagine what our visitors to the Festival (assuming the rail strikes allow their arrival) will think of our previously beautiful city.
