A bucketful of stories

This time last year we ran a competition at the local Infant school asking children to design a story bucket as one of the authors coming to the Linton Children's Book Festival was Ian Whybrow who wrote the very popular children's books about, "A bucketful of Dinosaurs".

The buckets were donated by Ridgeons and the kids had a great time decorating their buckets, creating characters and telling their stories to the video booth....The Infant School has a CD of all the stories if you are interested in seeing them.

This leftover bucket has been put to much more mundane use as the catcher of drips from a huge great hole in the ceiling underneath the shower, which has been leaking.

But the reason it makes me smile particularly is because the winner of that competition was so thrilled with winning, and with the bookfestival in general, that his enthusiastic mum has jumped in with both feet and is going to be organising the next one!

I couldn't ever have imagined the far reaching consequences of that little idea at the time :-)
