Hoppers

Did a fairly long shift at the allotment, mostly watering and feeding. Everywhere I walked I disturbed sprays of leaping grasshoppers, and their stridulations were very loud! Difficult to photograph (very well camouflaged against the dried grass/soil), but here's a couple. Does the orange abdomen on the right signify a female, I wonder? I got the impression there was a lot going on.....

D had an unexpected day off - the regular Inchcolm ferry boats working as tenders for some massive cruise ship, so no visitors for the island.
