Fairy loch crash wreckage

This afternoon we walked up to the fairy lochs above Badachro. Here we saw the memorial to those who perished when the USAAF Liberator crashed on 13th June 1945. Much of the wreckage is visible at the crash site, including the engine part that I have blipped. It was a lovely walk up through boggy moorland, and back via a more established path - the best arrangement for one with arthritic knees and crankles. The only problem was the warm, still conditions that are perfect for midges who lie in ambush for their victims.

Also today we popped into Gairloch for a scone at the Mountain coffee café, fruit at McColls, bread at the Old Inn, and to check the list of this week's local events at the Tourist information office.

We ate our picnic lunch at Red point beach, watching the waves and looking over to the Isle of Skye in the distance. This was not in the plan - we drove too far when looking for the start of the Fairy loch walk - but a happy accidental outcome of missing the walk parking spot.

Back at the cottage we have been learning how to play Azul properly. It's a more complex game than we initially thought.

Exercise today: walking (16,155 steps).
