Fading light

A choice of only two photos today -- we went to see Richard Galliano at the abbey in Caunes Minervois. This is what the sky looked like while we were waiting for the concert to start. It was packed out and I only had the little camera -- we were too far away to make photos worthwhile. Nevertheless there's one in extras just for the record.

It's a long drive to Caunes, an hour each way on country roads. S was dazzled by the setting sun almost all the way there, and I blundered home in the dark on roads with no white lines. Home just before midnight. It was so worth it though. Galliano is one of a kind, an amazing musician. And he can afford the best to play with him -- in this case, Sébastien Giniaux on the guitar and Diego Imbert, on bass. They were both fantastic. Also, I have an excuse to repost a link to a concert featuring Galliano, guitarist Biréli Lagrène, and the much missed violonist Didier Lockwood, gone of a heart attack much too soon. They were true soulmates -- you could see it in the way they played. I'll always remember the time we saw them live.
