Powerful Women

These three ladies come from the South Doroba Cluster of Self Help and arrived in the factory after nine, having walked up yo 30 km (by road) but they said there are short cuts, anyway its a hell of a walk.
They are from three different groups and came as representatives on the issue of water and the completion of a school block.
We talked and talked waiting foe Mary to come from a Ministry meeting but decided to pop out an see some cook stoves. There were excited as one which would be safe for their kids to use and asked if they could try to build one. Of course, of course have a go. They did and completed it in about 40 minutes.
Now they are competent and confidant of building their own and helping their neighbours. Oh, it costs nothing to make, except the labour. AND it burns a57% less wood than the three stone fire.
When we had eaten, they were starving, we headed for their villages, fixing/ replacing pumps and looked at the school.
We also passed the soya crop of Joyce Banda, President, in fields stretching as far as the eye could see!!
We now plan for 8 new pumps in the area as soon as they dig the wells.
Seen here with Alfred, our potter, making the mix.
