Bikes at Slaggan Bay

Today's main expedition was inspired by KirstyK's blip of 14th May 2021, which I read last night. Rather than walk, however, we cycled along the 5k track to Slaggan Bay, with swimming costumes and towels in our rucksacks (just in case). See the extra of the two main protagonists of this happy tale.

When we first arrived at the beach (blipped) there were two other parties there enjoying their picnics. Happily, they soon wandered off to leave the huge expanse of sea and sand to just the pair of us. Mr hazelh paddled and performed his pool lizard pose (extra) for his fans (yes, we know who you are), then sunbathed. Meanwhile I lay on the sand, drank tea, ate chocolate, and read my book (The dutch house by Ann Patchett - highly recommended).

The only tricky part of the ride to the beach came when we encountered a trio of highland cattle in the middle of the path (extra). It was soon clear that they were not going to step out of the way to let our two bikes pass, so we ended up circling them by climbing up and down a small heath.

Also today we have played Scrabble (a win for me) and Azul (two wins for me).

Tomorrow we hope to join a ranger walk and spot some sea mammals at Rubha Reidh, Melvaig.

Exercise today: 10k of rough cycling.
