Macro Practice

After our games session last night with son #1 and L, we went to bed over an hour later than our usual bedtime. As a result we overslept and were all of a tizz this morning, feeling very much out of our routine! We’ve been tired all day but it doesn’t matter, it’s been wonderful to have our eldest granddaughter here and we’re making the most of it.

She and her Dad went up to town this afternoon to visit Madame Tussaud’s, so I took the opportunity to do a big basket full of ironing, while the excellent Smithers made a batch of granola. Later in the afternoon, when R & L were back from town, we had another impromptu visit from son #2 and the two littlies, resulting in much more squealing and screaming and hugging. Early birthday presents were given and opened, and much fun was had with two little torches which projected a selection of pictures through circular slides onto the ceiling. Daddy, meanwhile, was putting together a splendid marble run which caused not a little sibling rivalry when it was complete.

And the flower? After I had finished the ironing I took myself out into the garden with my macro lens and had a little play before the troops returned. It was a toss up between a caterpillar and this rose, and the rose won.
