Fields of sunflowers

There comes a time in the year when Hitchen Lavender farm morphs into Hitchen sunflower farm. A friend and l went for a day trip out into the Hertfordshire countryside for a visit. The sun shone and it was really very warm (28°), the air was heavy with the scent of drying lavender which was laid out on sheets. The sun flowers were a bit disappointing - too much sun and not enough rain but still a splendid sight see.
As l type this l am listening to the sound of rain on the roof, the first significant rain for months, what a beautiful sound. We are looking after the grandchildren today and had planned on going to Hever Castle, a rethink will have to happen on that one.
