La vida de Annie

By Annie

Sin cubitos de hielo.

There is a national shortage of ice cubes throughout Spain. Shops and supermarkets usually sell them in big bags to customers, and bars and restaurants have van deliveries. Apparently they are manufactured in bulk before the tourist season begins: this year it was uncertain how many tourists would be coming after the last few fallow years, so coupled with the ever rising manufacture, electricity and delivery costs, less was produced. In fact, more tourists have flooded in than ever before, and it has been the hottest Summer in recorded history, so ice cubes are hard to come by. Today I saw a compact ice-making machine in lidl, which I wasn’t tempted to buy as the plastic cube trays in the freezer work just fine. First world problems eh?
