Anatole's blips

Evening row

Can there be a better illustration of how conditions can change? An hour earlier and we were struggling just to catch a stroke in the plunging chop.
This is the half-pressure row back after running a 2km race piece. Simply beautiful. The seals were driving the fish underneath us which would occasionally erupt in boiling pools at the surface, sending the gulls into a chattering, diving frenzy.
But otherwise all quiet. 'Stealth rowing'. Almost silent, gentle catches, pulling together to send the boat away at the finish, blades out at the same time with single clunk and a happy gurgle from the keel.
