Thistledown and Sugar Stealers

I had a pleasant local walk this morning. There is a definite end of Summer feel around the lanes and hedgerows with flowers going to seed, bracken starting to brown and blackberries ripening in profusion. Small flocks of Goldfinch were taking advantage of the bounty, as well as enjoying a splash around in the newly formed puddles. Swallows were hawking over the horse pastures, no doubt feeding up in readiness for their migration.
