Sarah

We were invited to a posh lunch today, in memory of Sarah, who passed on during the pandemic (although not of Covid).

Sarah was 96 years old when she died.  She had a very eclectic life, and was a bit of a character.  I knew her in her later life through Scottish Country Dancing, and it was a privilege to know her.

She had four children, Sandra, Christine, and the twins David and Robin, all living far away from her in Texas, Londonderry, Montrose and Oxford, but a more caring family it would be hard to find.  She lived independently in her flat after she was widowed, but was visited almost every weekend by one or other of the two living in the UK.  And when they could the other two visited also.  In her last year when she was less well, they took turns to stay for a week at a time, and made sure she had everything she needed.

Her funeral was of necessity a small affair and restricted to only twenty people, but today her family assembled sixty people for a lovely lunch in an hotel in Eastwood, and we had speeches, and memories and a bit of music too.

Such a lovely thing to do to remember Sarah!
