twinned with trumpton

By MrFT

After breakfast at the 'Spoons (man there's a lot of 9am supping goes on in these parts), we set about the historic and not so historic bits of Hull; an interesting mix of brillant and down at heel; before we wound up at the harbour, taking photos of discarded Tesco trolleys in the Humber estuary mud.

Then we retreated back across town to the KCOM - sorry MKM - for the battle of two cities. Hull v Coventry. Hull on paper were certainties but although the Tigers were never behind, Cov ensured Hull were never comfortable. However with 75 mins gone, the Hull sub really should have settled things but instead he blazed over into the crowd rather than bulging the net and left the home fans on edge until the ref blew up after an agonising 6 added minutes. For the neutral however, it made for compelling viewing! Hull eventually prevailed 3-2.

THen out of town and onto Harrogate in the evening sunshine; arriving around 7; a potter about before dinner / a drink and the football highlights of the day's action.
