Vision splendid

The main street of Narrabri has just a few gracious old buildings. I was attracted to the optometrists named Vision Splendid. A cheeky borrowing of a line from AB (Banjo) Patterson’s 1889 poem Clancy of the Overflow:

And he sees the vision splendid
Of the sunlit plains extended.

There are lots of sunlit plains around Narrabri. It’s a prosperous regional town at the centre of rich agricultural land. Cotton and wheat are important crops. We are here this week because of wheat - Rana is attending the Wheat Breeders Assembly, a national conference being held in Narrabri.
