The Crossing

Today Andrew, Pete and myself had a boys afternoon out. Being the tech geeks that we are we headed to Electric City in the area of Akihabara. This is the area of Tokyo given over to everything techie, from mobile phones to robots and every conceivable thing in between. Its the sort of place the Gadget Show presenters would spend weeks drooling over!

We met Andrew at the station and headed for the largest tech store in the area; eight floors of everything imaginable, and quite a bit not, with each floor taking up the area of numerous football pitches. One floor for cameras, one floor for computers, one floor for computer accessories, you get he picture.

Andrew actually wanted a mouse and a router, something easily obtained on Amazon, but hey, not half as much fun! Did I mention the floor dedicated to 3D TV's? We never did reach the floor with the massage chairs.

I had to drag the boys out half way through as I was desperate for a sit down and a cup of coffee. We then went back into the fray. It was late and dark by the time we finally came out, and that was just one shop in the area.

Andrew found us a nice Japanese restaurant where we had bowls of yummy food washed down with Kirin Beer. All in all, it was a good, if tiring, day.

The photo is taken in the area at a crossing point. I thought it gave a flavour of the district and people. I took it as Pete and I were walking towards the station to meet Andrew.
