Paddling

Holidays mainly staying at home in the past have always been a bit of a letdown. You try to 'be a tourist', but in all of the familiarity you can't help but just be at home. But since we moved here at the end of last year, for one reason or another we've not really done much walking. Used to be our weekend escape, and we need to get back into that habit.
In the meantime, that does mean that most places we'll go while I'm off this week, even just a 20 minute drive from the house, will make it feel more like we're actually on holiday. So it was today with Alva Glen. A short walk, with a fair amount of climbing, to get into the spirit, and a wander beyond the Smuggler's Cave for a wee bit of a paddle.
