Back in Town

A fairly uneventful trip up from the ferry after we finally disembarked; the boarding delays resulted in a trailer being parked at the head of our car lane - impasse. The folk on the other car decks must have been really hacked off as they couldn’t be lowered until we were off. Not DFDS’s finest hour!
But we’re back home and no issues with the flat with plants and fish both flourishing under Uncle G’s care. Had to head down to Stockbridge so checked out what had changed in the last 12 weeks (12 weeks! Where did they go?). A couple of restaurants have changed hands; the institutions of the Ping On and the baked potato shop are sadly no more; a recently opened cafe has closed, proving that we’ve hit cafe saturation point, to be replaced by …. another cafe; the Vape shop has closed; a Bento bar is opening; and we have a giraffe. The rubbish piles are honking but thankfully the binmen are back to work. The seagulls and foxes will be disappointed.
Talking of disappointment, we nipped down to Hamilton’s for dinner. Good beer, decent fish & chips but the smallest, driest ox-cheek imaginable accompanied by a shrug of the shoulders when pointed out. Shame but we won’t be back.
