Swanning About

Ventured a little bit north within mainland Shetland this afternoon to see what bird life was around at Loch of Asta and Loch of Tingwall and to see the latest exhibition at the Bonhoga Gallery (and to have a nice bit of cake!).

Loch of Asta offered Whooper Swans on the golf course, and Tingwall huge numbers of black-headed gulls and a lovely pair of red-breasted mergansers. The merganser pictures don't really do them justice, so today's offering is one of the Whooper swans.
