Falkland Palace gardens

Wednesday
We set off to have a short walk at Queensferry, but changed our minds and carried on over the bridge and headed for Falkland.
We were a bit early, so had a coffee and snack at the coffee shop on the square. As we walked to the Palace we noticed a number of people sketching various scenes around Falkland  - an outdoor art class. We had a lovely stroll around the gardens. A heron flew over while we were sat admiring the pond. In the tennis court building we spotted nesting birds, probably house martins. In the orchard is a lovely willow figure of Mary Queen of Scots.
As we walked back to the car park a local fish van arrived,  so we were able to buy some salmon to take home for tea. A good day out!
