The Armadillo

Glasgow was bathing in spring sunshine this morning. As I had to be in early I decided to head down to the SECC and take some pictures of the Armadillo.

The Armadillo (Clyde Auditorium) was designed by Sir Norman Foster and Partners, and opened in 1997. It is a 3000 capacity auditorium sited beside the SECC on the north bank of the River Clyde. Evidently the architect's inspiration came from an interlocking series of ship's hulls, in reference to the Clyde's shipbuilding history.

Many similarities have been drawn between the Armadillo and the Sydney Opera House.
