What struck my fancy

Thermometer

Outsize and outside, at Sandringham House. The window is reflecting but a small part of the extensive gardens surrounding the house. The thermometer was made by the company Negretti and Zambra who also made other types of instruments for example telescopes, and photographic, and optical instruments. They were appointed opticians and scientific instrument makers to Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and King Edward VII.

Negretti and Zambra died in the late 1890s, the company continued but was taken over in 1985.
