Terracotta Arrmy

These little figures are representative of the Terracotta Army that were buried in 210-209 BCE outside the modern city of Xi’an in China. There were 8000 soldiers, 130 chariots and 520 horses - all made out of terracotta! They were buried by the Chinese Emperor Qin and the mausoleum was started in 246BC and eventually involved 700 000 conscripted workers, together with many artefacts….. and they were recorded and forgotten, until some Chinese farmers discovered l them in 1974 and Chinese archaeologist’s have have investigated the forgotten historical background. It is in situ - and an amazing sight!
