Faroes.5

Today was the race, and we were blessed with good weather, a fine course, and a friendly multinational atmosphere. Naturally the landscapes were beautiful, too (see extras).

It was billed as a 23km "half marathon", but we all covered 25km (and 1100m climb). I'd been going well, but was tired, my Garmin said 20km, so in my head I just had the 3km descent to the finish. However, the extra 2km before I finally saw Tjørnuvík (pictured) was uphill and so hard physically and mentally!

Given my lack of running in the past year or so, I was very pleased with how I got on. The time of 3:45 sounds pedestrian, but the terrain was hard.

Showered and refuelled, I have to decide whether to go to the "after party".
