Update

Kevin’s Wednesday clinic ended up being a very long day for both of us. When he told the consultant that he had been having chronic diarrhoea since the evening before, he was rushed over to the main hospital for an emergency MRI scan. As the results showed there was a slight compression on his spinal cord in three places, he was kept in, and I left the hospital at around 7pm, to get home before it got dark.

Kevin had his first targetted radiotherapy treatment in the T10 - T12 and S1 - S4 areas of his spine on Friday. The next four cycles will start on Monday. He will also have one cycle in the C6 - T3 area on the Thursday, as he had started getting weakness in his hands again.

At the moment I don’t know when Kevin will be back home, as the doctors need to see if the radiotherapy will resolve the current issues. After a major flare-up in June last year, and further flare-ups in February and May this year, we are expecting to find that some of the nerve damage will be permanent, and that he will need further treatment.
