North York Moors Industrial Heritage

Today's outing took us to Kildale and an 8 mile circular walk over the moor passed Warren Moor Mine. This is England's only intact Victorian ironstone mine chimney, relic of a speculative enterprise that came to nothing. Built in 1856-7 but never used, it has been described as "standing as a monument to a failed endeavour".
