From the town of Aalten, the Netherlands, Hendrik and Willemina Wikkerink and their eleven children immigrated to Canada in April 1953. They purchased this farm in the Cowichan valley.

Hendrik Wikkerink died in 1967 and Willemina Wikkerink died in 2000.
