Mount Stuart, Isle of Bute

Wonderful weather today for a trip to Bute, my first ever visit and definitely not the last! A 50 minute drive from home got us to Wemyss Bay to catch the 10.05 ferry and 35 minutes later we were on the Isle of Bute in glorious sunshine.
We headed to Mount Stuart, a wonderful building both inside and out. The imposing red sandstone building has the most incredible interiors I think I have seen anywhere in the UK, so much marble, painted ceilings, carved wood panelling, just wonderful to see, sadly too much to try and capture in just one blip.
Afterwards we drove to Ettrick Bay for a walk on the beach, a quick stop in Port Bannatyne to photograph the cormorants then back to Rothesay for the 19.05 ferry back to Wemyss Bay, passing some porpoises on the way. A great day out!
