labor day…

…today

a typical holiday

for most

but not necessarily all - we tend to - forget the origins - of this holiday - and what our - ancestors fought for - ‘back in the day’ - in order for - us to be - where we currently are

this is a - historic photo sent - to me by - my sil from - a friend of hers - who has been - collecting them this - week to glance back - this depicts 3 girls - in 1912 ages - 6, 6, and 10 - who were oyster shuckers - & started work - at 4 am - they look tired - they look old - they look not - in very good health

many are out - having bbq’s in - the backyard or - just kicking back - because they don’t - have to work - some slept late - some just haven’t - given a thought - at all as to - what ‘labor day’ really - means in the grand - scope of things - but if you - look at this photo - be grateful for - the price that - was paid so - we could have - working rights now - let us not forget - what this holiday - represents and how it leads to…

a

happy day.....
