Cladding

Just before the big break for August the timber cladding on the extension has started to go up. It's all being hand nailed on site by a carpenter, and no nail guns involved.

The wood is all local hardwoods, and will change colour over the next 2 years to a more grey tone, and should last about 50 years without any treatment. A stone wall would need repointing after about 50 years, so the wood has a lifespan similar to stone wall. I probably won't be in the house by then...
