It started thundering at pickup time but it stayed dry until we were halfway home on the bus, then the rain started and was torrential. At this point CyclopsJnr realised he'd left his raincoat (which they are supposed to keep rolled up in their school bag) on his peg. Helpful. We had one small umbrella and got soaked to our skin on the short walk from the bus stop. Our junction was flooded with water up over the pavement and right down the road, but luckily the side we needed to walk down was passable.

Home to dry out in our dressing gowns for a bit then, gulp, back out to walk 15 mins to the swimming pool. By now the flooding had gone (must've just been too much for the drain to cope with immediately) and the rain was more moderate, plus we were equipped with umbrellas and raincoats and suitable shoes. The main road was flooded both ways outside the pool though, pictured.

CyclopsJnr enjoyed his swimming and seeing his friend M there, and he got two stickers in his book ticking off skills he's mastered.

The rain was pretty bad again after swimming so what a relief that cyclops offered to pick us up.
