10 Countries Run - Day 1 -Eventful Day

Having signed in for the event (Club Triumph 10 Countries Run) first thing this morning in Sedan, France, we set off. We were soon out of France and into Belgium before passing through Luxemburg and into Germany. After a good lunch, we then passed back into France and a little later, felt a wheel wobble that got worse, rapidly. I knew we had to stop but as I slowed up at a roundabout there was a shudder and a lurch. We stopped, holding up a rapidly forming line of traffic, one wheel nut had totally sheared off and the others had come so lose, they’d undone themselves. Thankfully the timing off the stop meant the wheel hadn’t quite set off on its own adventure. We were blocking the route onto the roundabout but traffic was able to mount the kerb to manoeuvre around us. Hi viz on and with the help of another Triumph owner, super mechanic Simon soon had the wheel reattached and with a couple of spare wheel nuts from another of our cars stock of spares, we were soon on our way. No other damage was done. Very glad it happened here and at this speed given some of the roads coming up tomorrow!

This evening we’re staying in Kempten in Germany.
