Between fen and mountains

Bank holiday

I had forgotten it was a Bank holiday today. There are four in May so you need to be aware. The first job was to try to find a shop open to replenish our provisions which have been rapidly depleted. This proved difficult. Then we walked up to the village square in Fillols which nestles immediately below Canigou. The sun has reappeared for the first time for nearly a week and the peak, replenished with a lot of late snowfall, shimmered in the sun. Fillols is something of an alternative village with an population of marginaux and plenty of dogs and children running around enjoying their freedom. The village square is a relaxed place and there is a communal supply of plastic tricycles, scooters and pedal cars which Maya found great fun.
