Foggy Peak

A cheeky mid-week mountain trip today.

A bit of a slog on the uphill. Hilarious fun coming down. We descended via a different route and discovered calf deep powder with ice underneath.

Not fabulous for crampons but excellent for sliding on your bum using the small pieces of foam we use when we stop for a break. 400 +m of high speed descent with snow lodged in every nook and cranny. I wore my helmet to keep my noggin safe.

It was a perishing cold start with a cold wind funnelling through Porters Pass. Within 30mins 5 layers became 3 layers. More layers were needed on the summit but still hardly any breeze.

Today's gratitude: For an absolutely brilliant day in every respect.
