'Sweet pretty creature' .....

.... is the phrase often used to replicate the call of the Willie Wagtail.

Described as 'one of Australia's best known and most loved birds' (D & M Trounson), it has the habit of 'endearingly twitching its tail from side to side' and 'expanding its white eyebrows conspicuously when agitated'. Found throughout mainland Australia, I photographed this one today in the Lake Ainsworth heathland, perched on a rusty gatepost.

I think this is a juvenile, since it has 'slightly rusty edges to the feathers of the wings' as described in the BirdLife Australia webpage.
