Feeling better!

Fletch slept ok and the sun was shining so we decided to go a bit farther for a walk, without going too far.

I've been wanting to do the 'old line' walk from Broughton for a while. 
The road to there from Barrow has some of the most stunning views in the country. From Black Combe to Coniston Old Man. I defy anyone to say otherwise.

It's also rather narrow and winding in places and at one point we were concerned about Fletch getting dizzy as he was quite restless but it was just excitement.
Of course as we reached the narrowest point at Grizebeck we encounter a HUGE truck (Scania?) .I had to reverse quite a way back as he crept towards me before I could pass. 

After that, nice wide quiet roads and we were able to park in Broughton without problem. 
The path is where the old railway line used to go to Coniston . The first part of the walk is through a narrow gulley of slate and ferns and trees towering above us.

As the path levels up there is a small lake and a convenient bench to sit on and watch the fish bobbing up to the surface ( lots of fish or just one very busy fish?)

The path then leads out into a wide field. Fletch took advantage of the space for a good roll in the yellow grass. 

As we reached Broughton I was pleased to see the loos were open, clean and even had warm water. 

We strolled through the square which was full of parked cars but otherwise quiet ( where was everybody?) 

Nice to see the grocers shop had a display of fruit and veg out kn the pavement. A sign of early times.

We strolled into the Old Kings Head for a snack. It was deserted. The staff were friendly and the sandwich was huge ( like the ones you usually get Flavia13 lol) and delicious.

The journey back was smooth and relaxing.
