Choosing a Tup

With a complete lack of photographs today it was lucky I spotted this card in the village hall because some of you will want to know how to choose a tup.
But others will say What is a Tup?  Its a male sheep used for mating - hence  "tupping"  being the most important activity in the mating season.

On the back of the card it explains that "Herdwick sheep are the native breed in the Central and South Lake District. In the North and East the local breeds are Swaledale and Rough Fell. "
Beatrix Potter was a big fan of the Herdwick and promoted their conservation on her farms. She was the first female president of that well known organisation the  Herwick Sheep Breeders Association
