Head of the Tide Nature Preserve

...is at the head of the Passagassawakeag River in Belfast, ME.  My hostess for this week is in the ferns, taking a break. Of course, I had to include a boardwalk. AND the mushrooms were so plentiful,  I included the Earthball because I love them, but I found a half dozen types of Boletes too.
We also went swimming in Swan Lake. It was closed for the season, but no one minded us hiking down the hill to the beach.  A ranger was working on the property and just waves us by.  There is a photo of the empty beach in extras.
Moose Point State Park was our next stop.  It has a trail along a bluff above Penobscot Bay.  Tidal pool in extra.
I put some miles on the old hiking shoes.
