‘The Nomadic Life’

This time of year, it's common to find several motor caravans parked on Marine Drive, where we park every Saturday morning on our way to Edinburgh parkrun. (Given the view, it's not surprising, though I suspect most of them are slept in overnight there, which I don't think they're supposed to be!)

This one looked a bit different and had the words ‘Orkney Overlanders’, complete with logo, on the side. A quick bit of research found some more information about it.

The vehicle is called Dinky and is an ex-military Leyland DAF. A young couple, Charlotte and Stuart - based in Orkney - bought and converted It a couple of years ago and moved into it in June last year.

Having decided to leave their jobs in December, they set off on the first stage of their new life. The plan is to work half the year and travel through the winter!

They are currently on their way to warmer climes - first stop Italy - but hope to be able to travel all around the world; what's not to like!
