Taco Truck

Taco trucks are a common sight around here, on the roads, in the vineyards and at farmers’ markets. Today it was a party for Kathy’s husband Mike who is celebrating his retirement as well as his birthday.

The best part is that he still plans to do small jobs and remodels between fishing trips. He’s a really nice guy and a good contractor. His whole crew was there at their house, as well as friends, clients, neighbors and family. We didn’t know anybody except Mike and Kathy, but we met a lot of nice people and ate delicious quesadillas, tacos and and pupusas and drank horchata and agua fresca, not to mention wine and beer. Their son-in-law, made the play list and a neighbor who works at Tomales Oyster Company had oysters both raw and cooked.

Thank goodness the weather cooled off for them. Kathy told me that if the heat wave had continued she would have had to cancel the party. To have it under the conditions of the last week would have been a public health emergency. As it was, the weather was just about perfect, and it was nice to get out and start learning how to socialize again….

Spike was resigned to staying at home, something he is learning to do as we get out more.!When I tell him he has to stay home, he goes and sits on his rug and waits for his treat. He did get a walk this morning, but tomorrow we’ll take him up to his meadow for a good run….
