Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2022 Friday — A little of This; a Little of That

Year two of ROTC has begun for our oldest great grandson Tristan. He is beginning his sophomore year of high school. In the past 14 to 16 months we’ve watched him grow from a youngster to much more of a young adult man. A monthly photo of him right in this same spot in the same uniform would be quite interesting. He is the great-grandkid that we have spent the most time with. We have enjoyed Tristan immensely.

On the home front — the backyard project got lots of activity this afternoon as Mercado drove in with a big truckload of gravel; we could hear the back-up warning sound from half a block away. Several of his guys worked all afternoon continuing the building of retaining walls; then later several more guys arrived and they all started carrying the big paint-bucket-size loads of gravel out of the bed of the truck. Rain was predicted and looked imminent when Mercado was getting calls from nervous customers in Cambria. That community received some terrific rain storms with lots of mudslides about 18 months ago, so Mercado left the crew working and headed north to soothe the nerves of those customers. About 7:15 this evening the last of the workers exited. We do not know whether they will be here tomorrow or not. I’m sure it depends on the weather and on the projects in Cambria.

The photo on the top right corner of the collage is our daughter packing her things and her bird “Doodle.” Deidre, we call her Deed, left here this morning headed for her home in SoCal. She has been here since Thursday, September 1 (the day that Mercado’s team started working on our backyard project). She arrived home in SoCal late afternoon and said the final hour was a “crawl” because of Friday afternoon traffic.

That’s our Friday here on
California’s Central Coast
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
