Never Say Die!

Strength, hope and persistence pay off as a Drone Fly (Eristalis nemorum?) successfully extracts itself from the web of a Garden Spider (Araneus diadematus) in our back garden around lunchtime today.

Undeterred (see today's 'Extra'), the spider stoically resumed its position at the centre of its web.
