A view from St Swithin

Barga

After a relatively straightforward journey by plane and train we’ve arrived in Barga. I’ll draw a veil over the chaos that is check in and security at Edinburgh airport but suffice to say we’ll shell out fo speedy boarding the next time we use that airport.
We are staying with friends who have opened a small gallery in the old town and have started running arts classes. The chief is doing a printing course and I’m doing my own thing.
Barga is a town with very strong Scottish connections with many of the famous ice cream Italian families coming from here (and Paolo Nutini’s family). We arrived to Scottish week with bagpipes, Scottish county dancing and Brewdog beer. All a bit surreal.
Anyway it’s a lovely relaxing place; and my hillwalking skills will be put to good use climbing the hill to our accommodation which is just below the church.
