Normandy Day 4

Very warm and sunny again today. Temp reached 28! We headed for another campsite today which advertised a heated outdoor pool but we were told it was closed (website said open till 15th!) they said we could use it but it’s cold! They then said that swimming shorts not allowed only speedos! Hubby doesn’t have any! It’s a rule in France! On the way we visited Sainte-Mère-Eglise. The liberation of Europe from German occupation began in spectacular fashion for the inhabitants of Sainte-Mère-Eglise. A misdrop brought paratroops raining down onto the village square, their chutes lit by the light of a house fire! Private John Steele would be the most famous of them all, left dangling from the pinnacle of the church tower (see first photo). We also visited the Airborne Museum which was brilliant. Going to Bayeux Tapestry tomorrow as it may be raining.
