Darling Buds of May

The Darling Buds of May

At last, the buds are blooming. These belong to a kind of Acer tree and the leaves initially are a lovely peach colour. They then change into a nice lime green. It is a sure sign that summer may be on the way, although you would'nt think it, given the cold icy wind.

It was a day of catching up at work and emptying most of the 22 crates after the office move. Student's are a rare sight these days, their heads being down focusing on their final marks. This gives the opportunity for PhD student's to emerge from their lairs and hunt out their elusive supervisors. Most of the time we can evade them, using a combination of native cunning and stealth. They do catch us when we let our guards down, and then it is a case of having to quickly read endless chapters of work elaborating on the latest theories and their potential applications.

We often wonder what the 'real world' would be like. Only kidding !! We are as much immersed in the so called real world as anyone else, except we also inhabit a conceptual world as well. Let's just say we have to deal with 2 worlds in parallel, one where we are actors (beings in the world, Dasein and Heidegger, I think) and the other, where we socially construct that experienced reality and have to write about it.

Basically that is what we do....and then try to explain it, with varying degrees of success to other people!

Let's see if the leaves are out fully by the weekend :)
