My Heart is in the Highlands

I’ve been looking back at the photos I took of Balmoral when we visited in April.Little did we know that the Queen would die here only a few months later.
We watched as the Queen made her last journey in Scotland in glorious sunshine arriving in a sad looking London , seeming to reflect our emotions again .

My heart’s in the Highlands , my heart is not here
My heart’s in the Highlands a-chasing the deer
A-chasing the wild deer, and following the roe,
My heart’s in the Highlands wherever I go,
Farewell to the Highlands, Farewell to the North.
The birthplace of valour, the country of worth,
Wherever I wander, wherever I rove.
The hills of the Highlands forever I love,
Farewell to the mountains high covered in snow,
Farewell to the straths and green valleys below,
Farewell to the forest and wild-hanging woods ,
Farewell to the torrents and loud-pouring floods,
My heart is in the Highlands , my heart is not here,
My heart is in the Highlands, a chasing the deer
Chasing the wild deer, and following the roe,
My hearts in the Highlands,
Wherever I go.
Robert Burns
