Buckler's Hard

We visited this interesting hamlet in the Beaulieu estate .   After 36 hours of downpour the weather suddenly cleared and it looked beautiful in the warm sunshine.

This is where a large number of ships were built in the 18th and 19th century.   More recently it had a role in World War 2 with the construction of Mulberry harbours and as an embarcation port for D-Day.
