Long Ago ...

... a family holiday in Switzerland included both a stay at Vevey by Lake Geneva and a week in Saas Fee, high in the mountains.  Returning from a walk one afternoon above Saas Fee we passed a field dotted with thousands of little pink flowers looking just like crocuses.  (Extra pic)   It was early August so not crocuses but a closer look revealed them as Colchicum alpinum.   So when my own seed raised plants come into flower I am transported back to the mountains and happier times.

Apart from a good blow ion the beach with C and the Megs it's been a bulb repotting day.  The bulk of the pots are done now.   Although a good number remain to be sorted, the job is 80% done.   It's slower work than last year as I am re-organising what-goes-where.  Having the newly installed greenhouse means I can arrange things so that I can have a good part of the collection in there.  Achieving this involves a lot of pot shuffling but it will mean that I can better care for the collection and better appreciate the flowers.  There should be something in flower every day from now until late spring.   Hoping to have it all sorted by the time Jamie returns on Sunday.
